Notice what is not on that list: ankle support, and waterproofing. Both are the reasons people usually give, and both are weaker than they sound.
Does a boot really protect your ankle?
A mid height boot restricts ankle motion. It does not add strength, and the evidence that hiking boots reduce ankle sprains in healthy hikers is thin. What does protect an ankle is proprioception, your foot's sense of where it is, and lower total load. Both improve in a lighter shoe that sits closer to the ground.

Why waterproof footwear usually backfires on a long trip
